Tennis, Boys & Girls Soccer, Volleyball all bring home wins


It has been a big week for the Cru! Tennis, boys and girls soccer, and volleyball each brought home wins for the Crusaders this week.
 
Girls Tennis
The tennis team won their 5th straight match of the season on Wednesday afternoon defeating Manchester by the score of 3 -2! Winning for the Cru were Isabel Lombardi at 1st singles, Katie Findley at 3rd singles, and the team of Isabella D’Antonio and Jillyan Stevens at 2nd doubles. The team improved its record to 6-2 on the season and is in action again on Tuesday when they travel to Barberton.
 
Girls Soccer
The Lady Crusaders pulled off an incredible comeback victory against Minerva, edging them out with a final score of 5-4. Led by Ellie Buckler's 3 goals and Sarah Belden’s 2 goals and an assist. The defense was solid throughout the game, anchored by Anna Minarcheck and Emily and Sarah Schmidt. A special shoutout goes to goalkeeper Syndey Klemens, who made 7 crucial saves. This win boosts the team's record to 3-2.
 
Volleyball
Girls Volleyball swept the Lake Center Christian Tigers last night with wins for Freshman, JV and Varsity. Top stats are Sara Barnett with 4 aces, Avery McMahon with 17 kills, Sophia Keane with 9 kills, Molly Marceric with 19 digs, Sara Barnett with 9, Mae Axline with 33 assists and Mari Nist with 3 blocks. The player of the game was Mari Nist.
 
Boys Soccer
The boys soccer team beat the previously undefeated Alliance Aviators 2-1 last night in a fast paced, hard fought and exciting game. Chase Cutcher scored the first goal and Vince Pena scored the second goal on an assist from Alex Winkhart, 1 minute later, to seal the victory. Emerson Schwiger made 9 saves in goal to anchor the defense.
 
Great job, Cru! Keep up the hard work.
 
After Crusader Football last night, two other varsity teams will see action this weekend:
Cross Country is headed to Northwest today to run in the Brian Armstrong meet at 9 am.
Boys Soccer host Minerva tonight, Saturday, at 7 pm. Come out and cheer them on as they look to make it 2 wins in a row.
