STA Unveils the Class of 1968 Learning Commons

St. Thomas Aquinas Unveils New Class of 1968 Learning Commons

St. Thomas Aquinas celebrated the opening of its brand-new Learning Commons on November 14th at 6 PM. This state-of-the-art facility, made possible by a generous donation from the 1968 first graduating class along with additional supporters, is designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and academic excellence.

In 1964 the class of 1968 embarked on their high school journey as freshmen at St. Thomas Aquinas. Little did they know that their legacy would extend far beyond their graduation day. Now, as they celebrate their 55th year since graduation, they have helped fund a remarkable gift to their alma mater along with other STA supporters and alumni — the new Learning Commons!

The Learning Commons offers various spaces tailored to different learning styles, including conference rooms, comfortable common areas, private meeting rooms, and a dedicated classroom space. This versatile space provides students a modern and inspiring environment to study, research, and connect with their peers.

The dedication ceremony featured insightful remarks from Father Dyer, who spoke on the importance of truth, scholarship, and excellence along with blessing the space. STA President Joe French and Principal Teresa Caserta also shared their excitement about the new Learning Commons and its potential to enhance the educational experience for students. A substantial number of our students are enrolled in College Credit Plus courses. Furthermore, we are embarking on two new programs in collaboration with Stark State College and Aultman College, commencing next year and this space will be a great benefit to their studies.

"I can't wait to use this space to study with my friends and work on projects," said excited STA Junior, Azier Lipkins.

"I think this is going to be a game-changer for STA," added Junior. Gabriel Regimbal  "It's an awesome space that will inspire us to learn. We have been waiting for this!"

The event was attended by numerous supporters of St. Thomas Aquinas, highlighting the strong sense of community and shared commitment to education that defines the school.

The new Learning Commons represents a significant milestone for St. Thomas Aquinas, reflecting the school's dedication to providing students with the best possible learning environment. The Class of 1968's generous donation is a testament to their enduring commitment to St. Thomas Aquinas.
