Lauren Neisel awarded Lucas Marcelli Scholarship

On Monday, May 6th, Lauren Neisel, Class of 2024, was presented with the Lucas Marcelli Memorial Scholarship.

Lucas Marcelli was a Jackson High School graduate, a student at Case Western Reserve, and a well-known and well-liked wrestler when he was killed in a 2014 plane accident.

His family established the scholarship in his memory. The requirements for the award are the same traits that Lucas had, academic excellence, dedication, sportsmanship, concern for others, and commitment to family and community.

The scholarship has been given exclusively to Jackson graduates until this year.

Lucas's mother stopped by CCHS to present the scholarship to Lauren and shared that as soon as she reviewed Lauren's application, she knew Lauren should be a recipient.

Lauren possesses all of those traits and had a well-written essay, but what most impressed Mrs. Marcelli was that of all the applicants, Lauren took the time to research Lucas, learn about him, and wrote about him in her essay.

Lauren's care to find humanity at the heart of a scholarship application is a poignant example of what we hope Crusaders learn, care for others. Lauren has made us #CrusaderProud.
