Get Involved: Student Organizations

99% of Central Catholic students are involved, thanks to dozens of student organizations, clubs, and teams.

Many of those organizations are planning activities for the 21/22 school year. Here are a few of our student organizations that are getting started for this school year.

Language Clubs: CCHS is proud to offer multiple, active, and engaging language clubs: Spanish Club, French Club, and Latin Club. Our language clubs are very popular with our students as they offer immersion into different cultures and meetings are fun. The French Club is kicking off a new year. There will be a French Club meeting for all interested students this Thursday, in room 207 at 7:35 AM. We will be discussing officers and future activities. For information on Spanish Club, please see Sra Carlson and Mr. Powell for information on Latin Club.

Speech & Debate: What do our students have in common with Brad Pitt, Bruce Springsteen, Oprah Winfrey, Nelson Mandela, and JFK? They have the opportunity to participate in Speech & Debate! For decades, CCHS has had an award-winning team, impacting hundreds of students. Speech and Debate will have a meeting this Thursday (Sept. 9) for anyone who is interested in becoming a part of the team this year. Anyone who is interested should come to an introductory meeting this Thursday at 7:30 am or at 3:00 pm in room 208. See Mrs. Harris for more information or watch this intro video from the National Speech & Debate Association: https://www.speechanddebate.org/explore-membership-students/

Cast: A service organization that is held before school which allows any student to get involved in helping others. Cast is always doing different activities to help keep students engaged and so that every student can find an activity that they enjoy. For more information and a list of meetings please stop by and see Mr. Vincente.

Vigil: Students are already hard at work on the 2021-2022 Vigil. Documenting each year is an important job, come help preserve memories! Anyone that is interested in helping with the yearbook should see Miss Sharnsky in room 218.

Community Service: Every student is asked to fulfill service requirement hours. Learning to help others is an important component of a Central Catholic education. We are happy to help students find opportunities to serve others.
~ St. Joan of Arc needs volunteers for their Home and School meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, beginning September 14th.     Volunteers need to arrive by 6:15 pm and will be finished by 7:45 pm. Sign up on Google Classroom for the specific month or months you can do this.
~ St. Joan of Arc Parish needs volunteers for their Family Picnic & Car Show on Sunday, September 19th from either 11:00-1:15 or 1:15-3:45. Sign up and more information on your Google Classroom class page.
~ The Alliance Catholic Worker needs desserts to go with the meals they distribute. Please bring in baked goods on any Monday or Tuesday in Ziploc freezer bags or containers you don't need back. 2 service hours will be given for baking. The ACW feeds people every day and we can contribute by providing dessert! There is a sign-up sheet in Google Classroom.

Worship Committee: Any student(s) that would like to be involved with planning Mass and other worship services, interested in serving as a reader or Eucharist Minister, or helping with music during services are encouraged to speak with Mrs. Dick. There are plenty of ways for students to be involved in practicing their faith.

Stay tuned for information on our other student organizations. We have something for every student!
