Once a Knight, Always a Knight: Nick Caley Named Tight End Coach for Rams

Once a Knight, Always a Knight: Nick Caley Named Tight End Coach for Rams

St. Thomas Aquinas has a long history of producing successful athletes, and Nick Caley is no exception. Caley, a 2001 STA graduate, has been making waves in the National Football League as an offensive assistant coach. He recently accepted a new position with the Los Angeles Rams as their tight end's coach, working under Head Coach Sean McVay.

Caley played his high school football at St. Thomas Aquinas before spending some time in the program at Walsh University. He coached at the collegiate level for 10 years before becoming part of the New England Patriots staff in 2015. He worked his way up the ranks and was promoted to tight end coach in 2017. In 2020, he also took on the title of fullback's coach. Throughout his tenure, he worked with top-level talents such as Rob "Gronk" Gronkowski, Martellus Bennett, Hunter Henry, and Jonnu Smith. He coached in Super Bowls 51, 52, and 53 with the Patriots.

Sean McVay, Caley's new Head Coach at the Los Angeles Rams, also shares Stark County history with St. Thomas Aquinas. McVay's late grandfather, John McVay, was a head coach at Canton Central Catholic. John McVay was also the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers during their successful Super Bowl runs in the 1980s and '90s, where he won five Super Bowls.

It's clear that Caley and McVay both come from strong Stark County football backgrounds, and their success in the NFL is a testament to their hard work and dedication. We congratulate Caley on his new position with the Rams and wish him and McVay continued success in their coaching careers.
