Class of 2023 begins declarations of intent


Central Catholic High School is pleased to announce that four of their 2023 outstanding student-athletes have declared their intention to continue their sport in college and have each enjoyed signing days.
 
Dylan Rouse has committed to the University of Findlay. He is the son of Bill Rouse and Lisa Schroeder. Rouse plays both basketball and baseball for the Crusaders. He is a member of the National Honor Society, with a 4.45 GPA, and the Spanish Club. Rouse earned Honorable Mention All-County for basketball his junior year, currently serves as one of the captains for the basketball team and was on the Crusader Baseball Team when they made it to the Final Four his sophomore year. He will be playing baseball for Findlay and studying finance. Dyan shares, he is excited to attend Findlay, he “likes the coaches, the new business building where he will study, the campus, and the small school setting.” 
 
Alexandria Drlik has committed to John Carroll University. She is the daughter of Jeff and Jen Drlik. Drlik is a Crusader volleyball player, played basketball for the Crusaders and is a member of the track and field team. She is also part of the National Honor Society, holding a 4.0 GPA, and C.A.S.T., Central Catholic’s service club. Drlik has been Student Council President all four years at Central, was a representative at Buckeye Girls State, a Stark County Catholic High Schools Marketing & Business Intern, president of the Spanish Club and serves as a Eucharistic Minister and lector for school masses. Drlik was the rookie of the year in 2019, earned honorable mention in 2021-2022 and most impacted award in 2022, all in volleyball. She was a captain of the 2022 volleyball team. She will be studying at the Boler College of Business and playing volleyball for John Carroll.
 
Kristen Belden has signed to play golf with Kent State University. She is the daughter of Joanna and Brian Belden. Belden plays golf, basketball and swam for the Crusaders. She is a member of the National Honor Society and holds a 4.43 GPA. Belden has made it to both the state swim meet and the state golf tournament, with two appearances in golf. Kristen was 1st Team Stark County in golf and won two golf tournaments for the Crusaders. She intends to study Psychology and shared that Kent State “gave her the best opportunity to play at a high level and has a great team and coaches.” 
 
Jack Talkington has signed his intent to play football for Ashland University. He is the son of Mike and Andrea Talkington. Talkington has played both football and basketball for the Crusaders, he is also on the track and field team. He has earned a number of awards for his work on the gridiron. He was the 2022 Stark County Player of the Year, awarded 1st Team All Ohio and All Inland District, as well as All-County Linebacker. Talkington currently holds the Crusader record title for highest rushing and passing titles. Jack holds a strong 3.5 GPA and has served the Crusaders as captain of both the football and basketball teams. He intends to study business at Ashland, where he is excited to enjoy their “beautiful campus and is pleased to play for their coaches.” Jack shared that for him “Central is and will always be home!”
