Current Central Catholic Students Continue Crusader Legacy of Service

The garden and memorial to Jesus the Good Shephard is a beautiful addition to the Grotto. Thank you, Alex!
Junior, Tim Short Asking for Help with Eagle Project Installation September 24th at the Grotto

In scouting the most difficult advancement is the Eagle Scout distinction. One of the requirements to earn Eagle Scout is to complete an Eagle Scout Project. According to Scouting Magazine, the purpose of the Eagle Project is "to give the Scout an opportunity to plan, develop, and give leadership to others." Given the emphasis on leadership and service to others found at Central Catholic, it is no surprise that many Eagle Scout Projects have been completed on campus. The Central Catholic community has been the fortunate recipients of three such projects on campus in the two years.

Last school year, Noah Fox served the Crusaders, specifically arts enthusiasts, by leading a total reconstruction of the Drama Club’s Black Box Theatre Stage on the third floor. Over the Summer, senior, Alex Vargo, partnered with the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto Committee to complete a new garden area and memorial dedicated to Jesus the Good Shephard. Both Noah and Alex completed projects that will leave their fingerprint on the Central Catholic community for a long time to come.

Currently, junior, Tim Short is working on a project at the Grotto. He is constructing wooden kneelers for all the benches that sit in front of the Grotto altar, as well as installing a memorial to the unborn. Fox, Vargo, and Short will join a list of Crusaders who have selected the Central Catholic campus for the site of their projects. They are also fantastic representatives of what it means to be a Crusader!

Tim Short has issued a call to the community to help complete work at the Grotto. On September 24th, from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm, he asked for members of the community to help install kneelers, dig and plant the new garden area, and set the new statue for the memorial for the unborn. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Grotto, they can volunteer any length of time, lunch will be provided by Tometreyco McDonald's. For more information or to see how to help, please contact Tim Short by email at [email protected].
