Teacher of the Year Nominations

Teacher of the Year Nominations

Through the generosity and kindness of the Donahue Family Foundation, the Diocese of Youngstown Office of Catholic Schools has established the Golden Apple Award. The Golden Apple award honors outstanding teachers and principals who devote their lives to teaching and working in Catholic schools.

The Golden Apple Award will be given to six teachers, four elementary teachers, two high school teachers, and one principal. The award consists of a cash award of $5,000, a certificate, a Golden Apple paperweight, and a Golden Apple lapel pin, presented at a diocesean ceremony.

The candidate must be a practicing Catholic, a full-time teacher, and have completed three full years as a teacher or principal. The applicant must be nominated according to the nomination process. Nominations for a teacher or principal may be made in one of the following ways: by another teacher, by any parent; or by a student along with his/her parent.
