Clara Williams Advances to the State Level of Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition

Each year the high school art world collects pieces to showcase at the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. As it has for years, Central Catholic submitted artwork. Central is proud to announce that Clara Williams was recognized for her outstanding artistic talents.

The Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition is in its 50th year of celebrating the talents of high school artists. Typically, 11,500 regional pieces are entered each year from around the state and approximately 2,500 are selected to enter the state judging in Columbus. Three hundred are then selected for the actual exhibition. Clara had two pieces of artwork selected to move onto the state level competition!

Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus, the state competition judging was cancelled. While It’s disappointing that the competition was cancelled, it is a great honor for Clara to have her work recognized. “The exhibition is a valuable incentive for our young people; it encourages an appreciation for the arts throughout Ohio and reflects the fine quality of art instruction and talent which exist in our state,” according to the Thad Ricker, executive director of the Exhibition. Central certainly has one of the outstanding art programs in the state.

Central Catholic offers its students several arts opportunities, offering art classes such as painting, graphic design, digital art, photography, ceramics and even College Placement art courses. Their music program includes a school choir, band, and Liturgical Choir. Students can participate in a fall play, spring theatre show and joint spring musical.
