St. Thomas Aquinas announces Teresa Caserta as Assistant Principal

St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Middle School is pleased to announce that Teresa Caserta has been selected as the Assistant/Middle School Principal for the 2021-2022 school year. Caserta has more than 13 years of teaching experience and seven years of experience as an administrator with the Canton City School District.

Caserta has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Mount Union and a Master’s in Educational Administration from Ashland University.

Caserta has a strong background in academic administration and teaching. Most recently, she served as the principal and founder of the Bulldog Virtual Academy, the newly developed virtual academy for Canton City Schools. She also served as principal for Harter Reading and Math Preparatory School in Canton for seven years. Caserta’s classroom experience includes teaching language arts, social studies, and literacy, as well as working with Title 1 and special needs students.

Caserta has extensive training and experience in promoting strong academic performance, creating effective learning environments, and in encouraging student success. She is credentialed in the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System and developed techniques for professional development for teachers and other administrators. Caserta has served as a district representative for the Stark County CARE TEAM. During her career she has completed training in crisis prevention, de-escalation techniques, supporting students who have faced trauma, as well as positive behavioral intervention and support.

She has shared that her goal is to maintain the safe, positive, and effective learning environment families come to expect at St. Thomas Aquinas and to promote their mission of Truth, Scholarship, and Excellence. Doing so through effective leadership, coordinating with school improvement teams, multicultural awareness, gender sensitivity, racial and ethnic appreciation, and continued professional development to help the STA community operate at its very best.

“I am enthusiastic and prepared to contribute my knowledge to St. Thomas Aquinas,” Caserta said. “When I came across this job, I knew that the values upheld at Aquinas are the same that I share. I have a passion for training individuals and ensuring they understand their roles as students, teachers, and staff.”

President Dan Gravo shared that, “We are excited to welcome Mrs. Caserta into the Aquinas family. We are excited about her experience with diverse student and family populations and her ability to serve the variety of family dynamics found in our Aquinas and larger Stark County community. We look forward to a great school year under her and Principal Neary’s leadership.”

Mrs. Caserta lives in Alliance with her husband and two children. They are members of Regina Coeli Catholic Church in Alliance.
