Biographical Information:
My name is Gerianne Lane and I teach third grade Reading ELA and Religion at St. Michael’s school. I received my degree from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania and began teaching in 1979. Before coming to St. Michaels, I taught first grade in a Plain Local School District school for 38 years.
I started at St. Michael’s in 2017 and I love the kids! I love watching them grow. I enjoy teaching them how to expand their reading and comprehension skills, and write a structured story. We become a “little family” in our classroom. My favorite is teaching the children Religion. They love learning about our faith. My favorite, of course, is attending weekly Mass with the children. When there are problems or situations, we can always bring God into our classroom discussions. That is something so very different from all my years in public school.
I love the Catholic School community. After being in the public schools for so long, when I came here, I witnessed this unique sense of family in our school. For the most part, the students are together for their entire K-8 school experience. The families know each other. The parents are very supportive. Children and parents have a sense of pride at SMS. The families enroll their children here want the faith-based curriculum, even if they are not Catholic; they still support our values and teachings.
I live in Canton and have been a parishioner at St. Michael parish for over 27 years. I am married to my husband, Michael, for 40 years. We have one son, Gabriel, who is a professional classical oboist. I love to garden and work in my flower beds in the summer. I love to cook, and enjoy walking. We enjoy our family vacations to the beach and we love to visit Presque Isle every summer.
