We are also a part of the Stark County Catholic Regional Elementary School System. Located in the heart of downtown Canton offering a rich and diverse curriculum with an emphasis on the Arts.
St. Peter Catholic School, partnered with the Sisters of Notre Dame, and has been in existence since 1860. Our philosophy has and continues to rely on the Notre Dame philosophy of an integrated education for transformation. We believe in educating the whole child, both spiritually and academically and instilling the importance of lifelong service to others.
Catholic Identity
Students are taught a moral vision for engaging the world, enabling them to realize they are part of the world and encouraging them to imagine all of the possibilities for the world. The Beatitudes and Corporal Works of Mercy are woven into the daily fabric of coursework, providing our students with a model of discipline and compassion that lays the foundation for them to become the leaders of tomorrow.
Academic Excellence
St. Peter School provides an academically aggressive and doctrinally sound program of education, including co-curricular and extra-curricular activities—which are rigorous, relevant, research-based, and infused with Catholic faith and traditions. St. Peter Catholic School is accredited by the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association and all teachers are licensed through Ohio Department of Education.
Structure
The essence of Christian moral discipline is self-discipline. St. Peter school stresses the value of self-discipline and commitment, teaching our students to understand that each person is unique and valuable. The Catholicity of our school encourages a mutual respect among students, faculty, and administrators that generate an atmosphere of care and concern. With the guidance and direction of their parents, teachers and other significant adults in their lives, our students gain the ability and willingness to make choices that are in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Extracurricular/Co-Curricular Activities
Extracurricular activities provide strong character building, leadership formation, and service opportunities, enriching the academic and faith experience of our students. Through participation, students are provided the opportunity to continue developing mind, body, and spirit outside of the classroom.
Preschool
Children learn good habits and attitudes in our loving Catholic community. Through patient and respectful methods, our earliest learners develop a positive sense of themselves, which will make a difference throughout their lives. We recognize that parents are our children’s first and best teachers. Our parents are strongly encouraged to take part in their children’s preschool experiences.
