What is a shadow day at St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Middle School?
A shadow day is an opportunity for prospective students to spend the day at St. Thomas Aquinas and experience firsthand what it’s like to be a Knight. Students that shadow are paired with an Aquinas student, they attend classes, go to lunch, and get a true feel for student life at Aquinas.
When should I schedule a shadow day?
Prospective students can schedule their shadow dates anytime from September through May.
How far in advance should I schedule a shadow day?
Please allow the staff two (2) school days to schedule a visit.
Can I shadow day a full day or a half-day?
We recommend that students shadow for the entire day to fully experience life at St. Thomas Aquinas, however, half days can be arranged at the request of a family.
What is a shadow day like?
Students shadowing should arrive at St. Thomas Aquinas by 7:40 a.m. and report to the Attendance Office. There the students will be paired with their Aquinas host for the day. The school day ends at 2:05 p.m. and the shadowing students may be picked up in the Main Office where they will return after the dismissal bell. Lunch is provided, although a student may bring his/her own lunch.
What is the dress code for a shadow day?
Students shadowing at St. Thomas Aquinas are asked to dress nicely (NO JEANS).
Can I shadow with a St. Thomas Aquinas student that I know?
Yes, if a student knows a current Aquinas student they would like to shadow, parents are asked to make that request known when they schedule the shadowing visit. We do try to pair shadowing students with an Aquinas student based on interests in academics, extra-curricular activities, etc.
