Central Catholic is deeply saddened to confirm the news of the loss of Central Catholic Junior, Jacob Brown, from an automobile accident.
Principal David Oates shares, “Our community is very sad to have to share the news of the loss of Jacob. Central Catholic is a small, close-knit community and his loss will be felt deeply by our Crusader family. Students, staff, and our families have been informed of his passing. We have our guidance counselors, campus minister, and President Father Donald King on hand to talk and pray with any student, staff member or family member who needs them. Please keep Jacob and his family in your prayers.”
President of Stark County Catholic Schools Rev. Donald King, “We are all deeply saddened to share the loss faced by the Brown family. As we do in all things, we have come together in prayer, and we ask the community to join us as we pray for Jacob and his family and friends who need God’s comfort now more than ever. May Jacob’s soul rest in peace.”
In light of today’s tragic news, we have made some changes to our week:
Tonight’s Booster Club Meeting, Monday, October 17, is Cancelled.
This sectional tournament game that was to be played today by Crusader Boys Soccer, one of the teams of which Jacob was a valued teammate, has been postponed as requested by the team. It will now be played tomorrow, Tuesday, October 18 at 6:00 pm at home against Loudonville. At the start of the game, Jacob and his family will be remembered. The senior class has decided to cancel the Beat Aquinas bonfire planned for tomorrow and request that all members of our community honor Jacob by attending the soccer team’s sectional game and wearing white.
Students are also encouraged to attend our sectional tournament in Crusaders Girls Volleyball on Wednesday, October 19. Students are encouraged to wear white again for the volleyball game where our student body plans to remember Jacob.
Please note, tickets for sectional games are purchased through the OHSSA website:
The Beat Aquinas Pep Rally scheduled for Thursday, October 20, has been canceled. Students have asked that we hold a prayer service for Jacob instead of the rally.
At the start of our home football game against St. Thomas Aquinas, on Thursday, October 20, we will remember Jacob.
