Crusader Cross Country Running For Success

If you follow the local news, you know that Crusader Cross Country is having a great season. They started the year with back-to-back wins at the Claymont XC Early Bird Invitational and the Ashley White Invitational. The Boys and Girls Teams won the CCHS Cross Country Meet with Barrett Scheatzle and Alyssa Mattis placing 1st. The Boys Team won the Division III Race at the Boardman Invitational. At the Catholic School Invite, the Boys Team finished 4th and Scheatzle set a new school record! Scheatlze was also named the Canton Repository's Runner of the Week, an honor he also received last year. The team was also featured in the Mile Split with a great story about the team's history of success and the coaching philosophy of the team which has been led by Mr. John Paul for 28 years. This past weekend at the D2-D3 Stark County Cross Country Championship Meet, the CCHS Cross Country Boys’ Team finished 3rd and the Girls’ Team finished 4th! Top finishers for the boys were Barrett Scheatzle, Max Grillo, Ian Paul, Blake Abbott, Aaron Shiplett, Nick Hallaman and Sam Garton. Top finishers for the girls were Alyssa Mattis, Caroline Johnston, Georgia Bentzel, Brooke Bajornas, Isabelle Olivieri, Gracen Competty and Lauren Halas. Great job, Crusaders!
