One of those reasons Catholic schools offer a unique experience is our focus on encouraging students along their spiritual journey. During the year, Advent especially, students have many opportunities to strengthen their faith.
Advent is an important time in our faith, as we prepare our hearts for Christ. It’s a good time for us to examine our conscience, reflect on what might be troubling our hearts, about who we are, and what changes we would like to make in our lives, as well as take the chance to speak, confess and pray with our spiritual leaders. Here are some of the examination questions we ask our students….
About their relationship toward God:
How do I pray?
How do I attend Mass?
How do I use God’s name?
How do I treat all of God’s creation?
About their relationship towards other people:
How do I treat my family?
How do I treat my teachers?
How do I treat people that I don’t know?
How do I treat my friends?
As we prepare our hearts during this season of Advent, these might be good questions for each of us to ask as we walk our spiritual journey and celebrate the true reason for the season.
