School Closure
SS. Philip and James will be closed starting Monday, March 16 through Sunday, May 3. At this time, we plan for classes to resume Monday, May 4.  We have plans for online learning, please continue to be on the lookout for communications from our staff.
Please join us in prayer for all those affected by the Coronavirus. We will continue to keep our students, staff, SPJ family, the community-at-large, our state, and our nation in our prayers. We hope these steps will help us flatten the curve of the number of people impacted by COVID-19. Stay healthy and safe!

About Us

History of SS. Philip and James School

The school’s history goes back over 140 years. Saints Philip and James School (SPJ) opened in 1875 with 12 boys and 16 girls and one lay teacher. Records show the old school was torn down and a new school was built in 1935. Another section was added in 1967 and the second floor was built in 1979.The Sisters of Notre Dame staffed the school from 1883 to 1885 and again from 1941 to 1975.
