March is National Athletic Trainer Month. A perfect time to spotlight our athletic trainer. We welcomed Mandi Champine to Central Catholic as a full-time certified athletic trainer this fall. She is here as a complimentary service provided to us by the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Ms. Champine received a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training Degree at the University of Akron in 2015, after serving in the U.S. Army. She has worked at Massillon, GlenOak, and Hoover high schools as an assistant athletic trainer.
She is excited to be the Crusader’s Head Athletic Trainer and shared with us that, her “goal is to provide the highest level of care to the student-athletes here.
As a board-certified and state-licensed athletic trainer, she follows the six domains of clinical practice established by the National Athletic Trainers Association which are prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, organization and administration, and professional responsibility.”
Athletic Trainers are well-educated in concussion recognition, treatment, and management as well as recognition and management of many orthopedic injuries. As a Cleveland Clinic Foundation employee, she has access to an amazing group of Orthopedic Physicians and Sports Medicine Physicians and can offer referrals.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with "her" horse, Jesse, who she works with at Freedom Farms at Whispering Grace Horses as well as spending time with her four dogs, Bo, Austyn, Walker, and Faith.
Please stop by to meet her. She is a valuable resource, who is anxious to help our student-athletes and their families and has already provided outstanding services. Her athletic training room is on the 1st floor, right outside of the gym. She is on campus each school day, after 2:00 pm. Families are also welcome to email her with questions, at
We are grateful to Mandi & the Cleveland Clinic Foundation for their help as we strive to offer our students the best experience possible.
