Congratulations to our Central Catholic High School Teachers who were nominated for the Canton Repository’s Teachers of the month! Both of our winners are dedicated Crusaders!
Mrs. Maria Dick was our October nominee. She has taught religion at Central Catholic for decades. She is not just a great source of knowledge about the school, but she also overflows with love for the Crusaders, students, and staff! She greets every person with a smile and always has something positive to say about every situation. Mrs. Dick gives up most of her “free time” volunteering for bingo every Sunday and works ticket collection at most of our home games, in addition to organizing Central’s annual food drive and adopt-a-family and working all of our school plays. She demonstrates what the heart of a Crusader looks like and is a shining example of someone who lives their Catholic faith.
Mr. Gerald Hudnall was our November nominee. Students are shocked to learn that Mr. Hudnall is the longest-serving teacher in the Diocese of Youngstown; teaching English at Central Catholic for decades! He is an entertaining teacher that students look forward to having when they become seniors as he’s known for having classes complete projects that are engaging and spoken of for decades to come, not to mention that helps them learn his material. He also teaches Central’s Holocaust Literature course, one of only two schools in Stark County to offer that class, as part of that course, he takes students on experiential learning trips, outside of the classroom, to hear stories from survivors and visits elementary Catholic schools to teach lessons on the Holocaust. Mr. Hudnall has experience and energy which makes him a great teacher!
We’re proud to have them both on our staff!
This semester students are enjoying these classes with Mrs. Dick & Mr. Hudnall:
Mrs. Dick is teaching Living the Catholic Faith, Religious Themes in Literature & Film, and World Religions.
Mr. Hudnall teaches Senior English, Senior Honors English, and our Holocaust Literature classes.
