STA Senior Avery Bussey Headed to The College of Wooster



St. Thomas Aquinas Senior, Avery Bussey, has signed a letter of intent to play collegiate girls basketball for The College of Wooster. Bussey is the daughter of Allyson and Jason Bussey and resides in Canton. She has a 4.03 GPA, is a member of the National Honor Society and serves the organization as secretary this year. In addition to her outstanding academic performance, Avery keeps busy with the Culture Club, yearbook, and athletics.

 

Bussey is a four-year member of the Aquinas Girls Basketball Team and has been a member of the Aquinas Track & Field Team. She has received the OHSSA Silver Scholarship (2021), OHSSA Gold Scholarship (2022), was named Honorable Mention for the Northeast Inland District, 1st Team All-District, 1st Team Portage Trail Conference and is a two-time regional medalist in the pole vault.

 

She plans to study biochemistry at The College of Wooster. Bussey stated that she, “fell in love with the college and is excited to be part of their basketball program.” Ryan Hill, the Aquinas Girls Varsity Basketball Coach shared, “Avery and her family have been an integral part of the Aquinas community the last few years. They speak to the very heart of what it means to be a Knight, they are always in the stands cheering others on, they are actively involved, upbeat and positive, and have befriended everyone they’ve encountered in our community. Avery gives her all to everything she does and I know she’ll be a huge asset to The College of Wooster.”
