Tamaki Hoshi (STA Class of 2019) Recently Crowned Miss World Japan 2021

Tamaki Hoshi was crowned Miss World Japan 2021 during the finals held October 12 in Tokyo.

The 20-year-old media content writer bested 30 other candidates for the title. She will represent the nation at the 70th Miss World contest to be held in December in Puerto Rico. She succeeded 2020 winner Maria Kaneya.

“I am honored to represent Japan. I feel responsible as a representative of young Japanese people. I have one month left until the World Championships in Puerto Rico. I want to do my best by taking advantage of my English and Japanese pride,” said Hoshi, who previously competed in Miss World Japan 2020 and placed as the runner-up.

Hoshi is a third-year student at Waseda University’s Faculty of Social Sciences. She lived in the US for 15 years before deciding to return to Japan to pursue higher education.
