The juniors enrolled in the St. Thomas Aquinas Financial Literacy classes have been relishing their experience with the YWCA of Alliance! This organization has partnered with Holly Bandy, the Consumer Science Educator for Stark County, and The Ohio State University Extension, to bring this innovative program, named “Real Money. Real World.”, to STA. The purpose of the program is to provide our juniors with an interactive and educational journey through financial literacy and budgeting. Every Tuesday since January, facilitators from YWCA Alliance have been conducting lessons aimed at equipping the students with the necessary skills to make informed financial decisions. We are honored to be the first school in the county to offer this program!
The Financial Literacy program will come to a close with a simulation exercise on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Over 14 school alumni and community members will be joining us as volunteers to impart their knowledge on various financial topics, including childcare, clothing, communication, contributions, credit, entertainment, financial advice, food, health and wellness, housing, insurance, student loans, and transportation.
