St. Thomas Aquinas High School is pleased to announce that Orlasia Hunter, a senior, has chosen Westminster College in Pennsylvania for her higher education and athletic pursuits. Hunter will be studying nursing and will also be playing volleyball for the college.
While at Aquinas, Hunter excelled academically, maintaining a GPA of 4.32. She was also active in a number of extracurricular activities, including Student Council, Pep Club, Campus Ministry, and Key Club. In addition, Hunter was a member of the Honor Roll and National Honors Society and served as a Student Mental Health Advocate and Student Ambassador. In 2022, she was chosen as one of the Aquinas Dungeon Leaders, a role in which she helped to rally school spirit among her peers.
Hunter has had a successful career in volleyball as well. She has been named Defensive MVP (2021), Offensive MVP (2022), and District All-Star Senior Representative (2022). She has also served as captain for three years and earned a letter every year of her high school career. In addition, she has received 1st team honors in D4 DIV, PTC, and All Stark County.
Hunter said that she chose Westminster for its community, campus, sports program, and learning environment, and is excited to be able to focus on her major while continuing to play the sport she loves.
Coach Diana Hogland said, "Orlasia is a one-in-a-million athlete. She has high-intensity energy and a leader mentality. She is the best athlete to watch and has a work ethic like no other. She is very athletic and shows much intelligence in the classroom and on the court. I am very excited to watch her continue her love for volleyball, and passion for nursing at the next level."
