Aquinas Announces Kevin Henderson as Head Football Coach

St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Middle School is proud to announce the addition of Kevin Henderson to the Aquinas family as the new head football coach for the upcoming 2023-24 season. Henderson boasts a vast and impressive background in administration, teaching, and coaching. Henderson's educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education from Walsh University, as well as a Career Technical Teaching Certificate from Kent State University. He previously served as the principal of Our Lady of Peace Catholic School for a two-year term, and he held teaching positions at Sandy Valley Local Schools and Canton City Schools (Timken High School).

With over 20 years of coaching experience, Henderson has left a notable mark in the field. He began as an assistant football coach at Timken High School and later at GlenOak High School. From 2008 to 2014, he took on the role of head varsity football coach at Timken. In addition, Henderson dedicated several years to Walsh University, where he assumed various athletic responsibilities, including offensive coordinator, co-special teams coordinator, recruiting coordinator, work-study coordinator, Director of Cavalier Athletic Club, Supervisor of Graduate Assistants, and Offensive Backfield Coach. Most recently, Henderson served as the assistant football coach for Sandy Valley High School, a position he held since 2017.

Henderson's coaching accolades include mentoring the NAIA All-Time Career Rushing Leader, guiding a two-time All-American player, and coaching a two-time MSFA Mideast Player of the Year. Additionally, he has been involved in the NAIA National Playoffs and earned recognition as a Top 25 Educator in the Plain Local School District.

Expressing enthusiasm for the upcoming season, St. Thomas Aquinas Athletic Director, Nick Stanek, stated, "We are excited to welcome Coach Henderson to our team. With his expertise, we anticipate great success for our football program."
